Henderson Animal Protection Services is offering half off adoption fees throughout November for shelter pets age 7 and older.

The shelter is at 300 E. Galleria Drive and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adoptions are finalized by 4:30 p.m.; the facility is closed Sundays and government-recognized holidays.

Pets are adopted in person on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications require screening and do not hold an animal, so check the current listings and ask staff about a pet’s needs before deciding.

Good to know the application doesn't hold a pet. I'd hate to fill it out and assume one was reserved.

If the request takes another day or two to confirm, I’d order earlier than Thursday for a weekend gathering.

Sunrise Ranch has opened near Boulder Highway with 144 income-qualified apartments for Henderson households.

The Nevada HAND community includes one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, shared amenities and resident services. Up to 60 apartments carry a preference for young adults aging out of foster care, while the city also identifies units for other qualifying populations.

Interested households should confirm current income limits, floor-plan availability, rent, deposits and application requirements with the property. The community is already close to fully leased, so availability may be limited.

If Sunrise Ranch was nearly full when it opened, is the waitlist still taking names? That's the first thing I'd want to know.

THE HENDERSON WEEKEND TEXT

Send this to the group:

Your move: share the text, choose a plan, and check the event details before heading out.

🧘 Mindful Minute

A SMALL RESET FOR A BUSY HENDERSON WEEK

“Let one good local plan be enough.”

Henderson’s week has plenty to choose from, but you do not have to fit everything into one weekend. Pick one meaningful stop—a market, a ceremony, a walk, or a Water Street gathering—and give yourself time to enjoy it.

Try this: Take ten quiet minutes before you leave. Put your phone away, notice what you can hear, and let the rest of the day unfold at a more comfortable pace.

✨ The Beauty Drop

HENDERSON’S FALL BEAUTY CHECKLIST

🍂 Keep the fall routine easy.

Henderson’s cooler mornings can still turn into bright, dry afternoons. Before a market stop, a Water Street event, or a walk through the Bird Viewing Preserve, use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply as directed.

🧴 Your two-minute reset: Moisturize after washing, add lip balm before heading out, and keep hand cream nearby. Comfortable skin beats a complicated routine every time.

✨ Small takeaway: Protect, moisturize, and get back to enjoying the neighborhood.
